Hi Everyone, We have a new Petition for you to sign! Besides changing the City Charter, we also have the power to force their Raise and Heath Insurance onto the Ballot in November to let US decide. So now we ask you to sign another Petition, this one to stop the Raise. If you haven't signed the Charter Petition, you need to download that one too. So please join us in amending the City Charter of Palm Coast, AND stopping this raise . Recently the City Council passed an Ordinance giving themselves a hefty raise, PLUS health insurance. The Mayor's salary will be $30,039 a year, plus health Insurance that could run as much as $10,000 by itself. His salary had been $11,300 with no health insurance. The Council was receiving $9,600 and now will receive $24,000 plus health Insurance, so figure $32,000. The unknown is the cost of the health insurance, which will be the same as a City "General" employee. It could be single or family, so who knows how much of our tax money that will cost. So we have lost the battle (which was expected, they were NEVER going to really back down), but NOT the war! We still have our Charter Petition, which will prohibit them ever doing something like this again, and we now have the Ordinance Petition, which will force a reconsideration of this Ordinance, and if the Council doesn't rescind the Ordinance, or change it in substance, they MUST place the Raise on the November ballot and let us vote for it. We CAN still stop this!
So for right now keep getting the word out about the Charter Petition AND the Ordinance Petition.. Both can be download from the bottom of this page. Keep getting more signatures, we still have a ways to go. For those of you who already signed the Charter Petition, Thank You, and now we ask you to help us again to stop the raise itself. Everyone MUST sign their own Petition; you cannot sign for someone else. All signatures will be verified, so they must match the signature of a registered voter living in Palm Coast that is on file with the Elections Office. Also, they will NOT accept e-signatures, nor can I print out a signed Form sent to me by email. You must return the original, signed Petition Form to me by mail (my address is on each Form) or I can come by your home and pick them up.Thanks!
